Jewellery

I noticed that in the victorian nudes i have in my research, th emodels are still wearing jewellery or even some pieces of clothes. I thought it would be nice to have my model wearing various jewellery etc. Still looking her best even at her most vulnerable. I have spent some time searching around for victorian style jewellery and vintage pieces on ebay. I would also like an old chair for some of the shots.

The dress

To make my dress for the beach shoot i took inspiration from images in my research. Looking at floaty materials etc.
I Went for a fabric that would be transparent in places when blown or in the wind. I found a lovely peach coloured chiffon-type material which matched the underskirt. (underskirt was for model's modesty)

The Red Balloon

Someone told me to watch this film and i thought it related well to my beach shoot as the balloon appears to be floating all by itself :) It reminds me of the clip out of American beauty and i thought i could get a similar effect with a kite on the beach.

More experimenting

I have had a little go with the camera over the holiday, testing which techniques create the best effect and look how i want. I had a go at blurring the image by changing the zoom as i took the photo, obviously the shutter speed was very low to be able to capture the movement. These were what it came up with. Not brilliant but a good start...

preparation

I have been making my scrubs look a bit more believable. First i soaked them in water then added coffee to make them look dirty, scrunching in bits of granules to get darker patches. They now look like the patient has been scorched but electricution. I then rolled around in some dirt and got some charcoal onto them to make them look even more grubby :) (that was fun) Lastly i used red food colouring for a bloodied effect.
As you can see i got in a bit of a mess hehe!

Obsticles to overcome

Well the 1st part of the beach shoot did not go completely to plan. The tide was very far out when we arrived as i couldnt get an earlier train. And there was very little wind. Not to mention the worst journey home!

Anyway, so trying to see if it is worth going back or had i better find a new location?

The mental shoot is tomorrow and im very excited about that one, lets just hope it goes well. I bought some white scrubs for my model to wear but they look to clean and bright so im trying to rough them up a bit to go with the atmosphere i want to create.

I am still working on my presented research, which i am very proud of (if i do say so myself) Im not used to working out of a sketchbook so it has been a challenge. 34 pages and counting..

Wish me luck for tomorrow :) xXx

getting things moving

Well at the moment i have all my models sorted.I am going to hopefully buy some fabric today to make a simple chiffon dress for my model to wear on the beach. I will be doing the 1st stage of my beach shoot on friday at weston super mare. This is to get the nature shots then when that is done i will go a 2nd time with my model to do her parts in the film.

At the moment i am thinking of what shots i would like in the film, how long to have each clip, how long i want the final thing and how they will all fit together.

The mental shoot is planned to take place on the 18th of april with my model and then the studio based shoot is the 6th of may.

My presented research is coming on well, i have started to make it look more professional and more minimal than it was before. I am also considering each page as part of a double page spread.
